The Coating of Glass
Multi-section bonded sputtering targets in lengths of up to 12.5 feet are used for the coating of architectural glass using a PVD process. They are made of tantalum, chromium or CrNi. Resistance-heated evaporation sources made of refractory metals are used to produce optical anti-reflection and filter coatings to aluminum metallize visual display screens, headlight reflectors or bulbs for incandescent lamps.
