Picture generating systems for medical use continue to be dominated by X-ray technology not only in the area of general X-ray diagnostics, mammography, angiography and cardiography, but also in the field of computer tomography.
Electromagnetic blasting is created by slowing down fast electrons with an anode. 1% of the energy generated is transformed into X-rays and 99% into heat. Due to this fact, the components within an X-ray tube are subjected to a very high thermal resistance. The materials used for such parts should therefore possess a very high melting point, a large heat capacity, good heat conductivity and the lowest possible vapor pressure.
Today PLANSEE produces components made of high performance materials (molybdenum, TZM, tungsten, WRe alloys), for the assembly of X-ray tubes as well as X-ray technology, which are used worldwide for picture generating systems.
PLANSEE USA supplies:
- X-ray targets
- Fastening elements for X-ray targets
- Rotors
- Stationary anodes
- Cathode components
- Detector components
