High-Temperature Furnace Construction

High-temperature furnaces and processing plants equipped with refractory metal components are able to reach temperatures of up to 5,430ºF under vacuum or protective atmospheres. They are used in many fields of modern technology (vacuum brazing, sintering technology, heat-treatment, as well as in research and development).

Refractory metals have various advantageous properties for use in high-temperature processing plants: a high melting point and a correspondingly low vapor pressure, low thermal expansion, coefficient and heat capacity, as well as excellent hot strength and creep strength. Through the development of special high-performance alloys based on Mo and W (such as TZM, MLR, WVM etc.) PLANSEE has succeeded in significantly improving the structural stability and creep strength in comparison to the pure metals.
